In his age 23 season St. Louis Cardinals prospect Harrison Bader has had a breakout year for the Memphis Redbirds. It appears that the team is prepared to call the Redbird Daily’s #6 prospect up to the majors according to a tweet from Derrick Goold.
#Cardinals are making some roster moves (DL-related, most likely) that could bring Harrison Bader to the majors. This is developing.

The Memphis Redbirds are currently 66-35 and Bader has been a huge part of that fantastic record. The power hitting outfielder slugged 19 home runs to go along with a .297/.354/.517 slash line. There is some speed to Bader’s game as well as he’s stolen 39 bases in the minors. He, along with current Cardinals Carson Kelly, Paul DeJong, and Luke Voit have been serious contributors for the Triple-A team.
The Cardinals front office hasn’t seemed interested in calling Bader up for a short term fill in at any point this year but now there is a spot for him to play everyday for the foreseeable future. According to the teams official Twitter account, Dexter Fowler has been placed on the 10-day disabled list.
The #STLCards today have placed outfielder Dexter Fowler on the 10-day disabled list with a left forearm strain.

Fowler left Monday’s game early and has been dealing with a heel issue all season but it appears to be a wrist strain that is sidelining him this time.
What should we expect?
Harrison Bader has the potential to step right into the big leagues and have an impact the same way the Paul DeJong has. He seems, by all accounts, to be ready for the next step. He can also play all three outfield positions. There was some early speculation that he would have to move out of center field but he seems to put those ideas to rest this season by showing great improvement at the position.
Bader has shown some swing and miss in his game with a 23.6% strikeout rate this season but that isn’t high enough to initially worry about. Especially when he brings the power potential that he does. With regular playing time in the near future, it’s fair to hope for him to bring a jolt to the team in the same way that so many Cardinals call-ups have before him.
