In the first post-season (not postseason) episode of Prospect to Be Named Later, Kyle and I touched briefly on the playoff runs of the Peoria Chiefs, Palm Beach Cardinals, and Memphis Redbirds.
Our main focus, however, was the upcoming Arizona Fall League. The Cardinals are sending eight players to this year’s Fall League to play on the Surprise Saguaros, along with prospects from the Rangers, Twins, Royals, and A’s. Those guys are pitchers Sandy Alcantara, Jordan Hicks, Josh Lucas, and Arturo Reyes, as well as catcher Andrew Knizner, first baseman John Nogowski, shortstop Edmundo Sosa, and outfielder Oscar Mercado.
Before we jumped into each player individually, Kyle, a veteran follower of the AFL, provided a rundown of what the league actually is. We broke down each Cardinals’ prospect individually and wondered if there was anyone the Cardinals should have sent to Arizona but didn’t.
Thanks for reading/listening!
