Cardinals Minors Report: Bader Makes Phenomenal Play, Carlson’s Hot Hitting Continues

At the Redbird Daily, we’re adding a new daily post, the Minors Report. We hope to publish the Minors Report daily, and myself, Austin Lamb, and Kyle Reis will be contributing. Without further ado, last nights Minor League action…

Memphis Redbirds 2, Oklahoma City Dodgers 3

John Gant, acquired from the Braves in the Jaime Garcia trade, went 8 innings giving up three runs, all earned. He was helped by Harrison Bader, who did his best Tommy Pham impersonation with this play in center:

Offensively, Jose Adolis Garcia went 2-for-4 and is batting .400 after three Triple-A games. Carson Kelly went 0-for-4, and his average, which has been above .300 for much of the year, dropped to .279.

Peoria Chiefs 10, Beloit Snappers 8

Peoria went 7-for-11 with RISP yesterday and chased the Snappers starter after four innings and six runs in for Peoria.Ryan McCarvel hit his eighth homer of the year and drove in three, and 18-year-old Dylan Carlson went 2-for-4 to continue his hot hitting of late.

Over his last 19 games the 18 year old switch-hitting Carlson is slashing 323/389/477 with 2 HR and 4 Doubles in 65 AB. Love his progression

On the mound, the Chiefs starter Evan Kruczynski went four shut-out, before the bullpen gave up eight runs over the next three innings. Luckily, Eric Carter threw 1 2/3 innings and struck out three to lock down the win for Peoria.

Johnson City Cardinals 4, Kingsport Mets 2

With 2016 first round pick Delvin Perez out of he lineup after throwing a temper tantrum on Monday, Logan-Rogersville High School product Jacob Schlesener went 4 2/3 shutout innings to lead Johnson City to a win. He struck out four. Center fielder  Wadye Ynfante went 3-for-5 with a double, catcher Julio Rodriguez 3-for-4 with an RBI, and shortstop Wood Myers went 2-for-4 to raise his early-season average to .444.
